内容简介
《胡适英文文存3:民族危机与公共外交》选录胡适自1912至1944年间撰写和演讲的英文文献,胡适作为中国驻美国大使向美国乃至世界宣传中国抗战的性质与国际意义,争取美国和国际社会对中国的同情与支持。
《胡适英文文存》系列结集了胡适于20世纪20年代左右到60年代初之间撰写的英文文章或英文演讲,它们大多都曾发表于颇具影响的英文刊物上,并对当时的中国社会产生过重大影响。
按主题分编为《中国文学与社会》、《中国哲学与思想史》和《民族危机与公共外交》三册,由哥伦比亚大学东亚系教授周质平选编。
作者简介
胡适,一八九一年–一九六二年,安徽绩溪上庄村人,因提倡文学革命、思想革命而成为新文化运动的领袖之一。
兴趣广泛,著述宏富,在文学、哲学、史学等诸多领域都有开创性的贡献:英文写作、演讲能力俱佳,致力于向西方介绍中国历史文化,影响深远。
历任北京大学文学院院长、中国驻美国大使、北京大学校长、『中央研究院』院长等职。
