内容简介
本套书共4册,系统整理了英国《伦敦新闻画报》在1926年至1949年间关于中国的图文报道。作为西方最早以图像记录新闻的画报之一,《伦敦新闻画报》以大量珍贵的铜版画和照片,生动再现了民国中后期中国的社会变迁、战争风云、民生百态与文化风貌。
书中内容涵盖政治事件(如北伐、抗日战争、国共内战)、经济与城市发展(如上海租界、铁路建设)、日常生活(如市集、节日、服饰),以及西方视角下的中国人物与异域文化观察。这些图像与文字不仅是对中国近代史的直观记录,也反映了西方媒体对中国的认知与想象。
编译者沈弘教授从数千幅原始画报中精选出超过800幅图片,并配以原版说明文字与背景注释。这些资料在中国国内十分罕见,具有重要的史料价值,为研究民国时期的社会史、新闻史和中西文化交流提供了独特的视觉档案。
